Myrtle is a self-absorbed, emotionally unstable muggleborn. She’s comes across flaky, but she’s not a stupid girl. She just focuses more attention on boys and attempting to fit in than her studies. She wants very much to be an extrovert, but doesn’t quite have the social skills to pull it off. She desperately wants to be just as good, or better than the rest of the girls in her year. This trait combined with her need for praise and approval compelled the Sorting Hat to place Myrtle in Ravenclaw.
